Looking for exercises to tone your body? Well, you’re in the right place!

Whether you are a gym fanatic or a home workout person, I want to share 3 powerful exercises you can use to strengthen and tone your body. By performing these simple, yet effective exercises to tone your body at home, you may start to see an increase in your muscle size, and your general overall wellbeing.

If you find yourself pressed for time and you would like to get your body toned, then the ‘squat’, the ‘deadlift’, and the ‘bench press’ are  the 3 simple exercises you can do to tone your body at home. Believe it or not, we tend to execute some of these effective exercises unconsciously doing everyday things.

1. The Squat

Squatting is an exercise that strengthens your lower body and is an exercise that can be done with your own body weight. If you are looking to challenge yourself, then you can add extra resistance by using dumbbells, a barbell, or weighted plates. Squats are an effective exercise to strengthen and tone your body at home without even having to go to the gym. You can even engage in squat challenges to build consistency.

A few of the key benefits of squats are that they build your lower body muscles and work your lower back, glutes, hamstrings, and calf muscles. Squats can also improve joint stability and keep you functional for years to come, and as a result, your body will thank you for it.

2. The Dead Lift

The deadlift is a full-body movement that works your whole body. It is one of my personal favourite exercises to do at home and in the gym. Deadlifts are a simple, effective exercise to strengthen and tone your body because of the amount of weight you can lift at once. Most people tend to deadlift in order to build their glutes, but did you know that deadlifts can also build your upper body strength and support your torso?

The deadlift can also support you to build, strengthen and tone your lower back. If you work a desk job or you have a weak core, deadlifting is an effective exercise to strengthen and tone your body. It is beneficial to have some type of additional weight. Think about investing in a pair of dumbbells.

If you want to challenge yourself, then why not try single-leg deadlifts? There are a number of variations of the deadlift, but it is important to discover which variation you will feel comfortable with.  I would recommend starting with a dumbbell or a kettlebell if you are keen on adding this effective exercise to an existing routine or if you are a complete newbie.

3. The Bench Press

If you are looking to build your chest area, then the bench press is one of the most effective exercises to strengthen and tone that area. The bench press is a compound exercise that strengthens the upper body.

Not only does it increase your pressing strength in the upper body, but it can also increase the muscle mass in your triceps. If you perform the bench press accurately, then you can engage the entire body. So, this means that not only will you engage your chest, triceps, and shoulder muscles, but you will also engage your abdominal muscles, back muscles, forearm, and leg muscles

I would recommend using lightweight dumbbells or investing in your own barbell that you can store away safely.

So there you have it, 3 simple exercises to tone your body at home. There are many beginner-friendly tutorials on YouTube and the Nike Training app. I would say that an ideal routine combining these 3 simple exercises to tone your body should be around 2-3 times a week, depending on your activity levels.
